Drawdown Indicators in MetaTrader 4
Drawdown indicators in the MetaTrader 4 platform are used to measure the maximum relative decrease in account equity from the previous peak. These indicators are often considered in backtesting environments or algorithmic trading to determine the risk tolerance of a trading system. Instead of merely analyzing profit or loss, drawdown focuses on the account decline over time and is considered an important criterion for assessing the stability of a strategy. Some versions, in addition to showing absolute drawdown, also calculate and report the Recovery Rate separately. In the custom versions provided by Trading Finder, drawdown indicators are plotted in linear or area formats and can be displayed alongside the price chart. This structure allows the trader to evaluate the system’s performance drop in real time and identify high-risk points. Despite the graphical limitations of drawdown indicators, improved versions make it possible to examine capital decline in greater detail.
